Interregional Forum : Since 2012, the Interregional Spatial Planning Information Forum has brought together the administrations of the three Belgian Regions to facilitate the exchange of information on planning policies and tools, as well as on common issues. It also provides funding for joint studies, such as the Metropolitan Landscapes study.  Each year, the three regions take it in turns to organise a meeting of spatial planning experts of the 3 regional administrations on a topic of common interest.

Urbanisation of 20th century in and around Brussel : The Brussels-Capital Region (perspective.brussels and the BMA), in partnership with the Flemish Region (Departement Omgeving and Team Vlaams Bouwmeester), has launched an analytical and prospective research project to qualitatively transform the built fabric of the 20th century periphery. This perimeter is located in and around the Brussels Region.
The project is funded by the European Interreg North West Europe program.

OPEN Brussels : Interregional study aims to develop a common landscape and ecological vision for the various regions of the periphery, enabling open spaces to play a structuring role in sustainable urban development. The study is coordinated by perspective.brussels, the  Omgeving Vlaanderen Department, Bruxelles Environnement, the ‘Natuur en Bos‘ Agency and OVAM, in partnership with the Vlaams Bouwmeester and the Bouwmeester maître architecte, VMM, VLM et ‘Landbouw en Visserij’ Department .

Bruxelles Metropole 2040 : Study carried out in 2012 as part of the preparation of the Regional Sustainable Development Plan. It sets out 3 visions for the spatial development of the Brussels metropolitan area by 2040.

Étude Metropolitan Landscapes : The Metropolitan Landscapes study is a joint initiative of perspective.brussels, Omgeving Vlaanderen, Bruxelles Environnement, the Vlaamse Landmaatschappij (Flemish Land Agency), the Agentschap voor Natuur en Bos (Flemish Agency for Nature and Forests), the Master Architect for the Brussels Region and the Flemish Master Architect.

It was co-financed by the Brussels and Flemish Regions and initiated within the framework of the Interregional Information Forum for Spatial Planning. The results of this research are collected in a book that was presented at a symposium on January 28, 2016. Metropolitan landscapes: Open space as a basis for urban development

European projects :

Urbact Joining forces : The project Joining Forcess was financed by the European program URBACT. Between 2008 and 2010, 8 european cities, including Brussels Region, exchanged on the different metropolitan governance models allowing a better competitiveness and cohesion at the metropolitan scale. 

ESPON SPIMA: SPIMA project (Spatial Dynamics and Strategic Planning in Metropolitain areas) was financed by the European program ESPON on spatial planification.  The project studied the tools and approaches put in place by 10 European metropolises, including the Brussels-Capital Region, to manage spatial development on a metropolitan scale.

ESPON METRO: The METRO  project financed by ESPON program explored the contribution of European cohesion policy to better territorial planning in European cities and metropolises. It highlighted the importance of integrating these territories into the development and management of this policy in order to make it more effective. Coordinated by the Polytechnic University of Turin, the project brought together nine cities and metropolises as well as two international networks (EUROCITIES and METROPOLIS). It put forward recommendations for accentuating the metropolitan dimension in future cohesion policy.
